Robin Oakley  and Oakleys Premium Fresh Vegetables  have been the topic of MANY different  (CTV) Canterbury TV  shows  with Rob Cote Williams, about vegetables and production. And  he was interviewed on the RD 1 TV show in 2010.

Keep an eye out on   Canterbury Television, CTV,   for Robin's updates on our  farming news and the ever changing world of VEGETABLES.

Robin participated in an International Year of the Potato event  twice on ''What Now'',  for TVNZ, showing the children how to grow potatoes and   cooking for the audience.

Robin Oakley has achieved success in the academic farming arena.

 

In 2001 Robin and Shirleen were awarded the FMG RURAL EXCELLENCE AWARD, they were the Tasman Regional Winners  and NZ finalists.

Robin received a $5,000.00  Lincoln University Travel  Grant to travel to Europe to study vegetable farming procedures in UK and Europe.

In 2001 Robin was presented the Vegfed Yound Achievers in Horticulture Award  at the Annual NZ Vegfed Conference.

Robin Oakley attended the (Monash University)  Rabobank Executive Development Programe for Primary Producers ( Farm Managers courses  and Produce Managers courses)  Australia in 2001, 2002, and 2005. And Alumni Courses in NZ.

In 2002 Robin and Shirleen  Oakley were  placed  2nd in the Lincoln University Foundation (Horticulture) Farmer of the Year Competition.

Robin Oakley was  an  individually invited guest to  attend the 2002  International GLobal Fresh Conference in Holland.

Robin   has been voted as a  member of the  Brassica Group since 2003 with Hort NZ until the present day.

Robin has been a member of the Canterbury Growers Society for many years.

Robin was selected to complete the NZ Horticulture Industry Leadership Programme at Lincoln University in 2005

In 2009 Robin was invited as a member on the NZ POTATO BOARD  with Hort NZ .

In 2009  Robin  was voted  as a member of the Potatoes Product Group and  has been a member of the Fresh Vegetable  Product Group for many years.

In  2009 Robin was invited on the advisory panel for a  Christchurch City Council  and  Business Development Group  initiative  advising Grower's in their business affairs.

Robin is  annually asked to speak to the Agribusiness  students at Lincoln University.

Robin was invited on to the United Fresh Executive Committee in 2011. This includes the ''5 plus a day'' Group. This allows Robin to keep up with  industry affairs in a leadership role.

In 2010 Robin and Shirleen had a  promotional stall  at the Asian Fruit and Vegetable Logistica in Hong Kong , showcasing NZ fresh vegetables from Oakleys to the Asian/Pacific area.

In 2011 Robin was a guest  and judge at  the Secondary Shools Challenge ( cooking competition ) held a the culinary fair, and  the   Nestle  Toque de 'or  Chefs  Competition in Auckland.

 

COAST TO COAST 

Robin has  successfully completed in the Speights Coast to Coast  Multisport competition five times , sponsored of course  by Oakley's!!!! Once as a team  other times as  an individual  one and two day entrant.

For the first time Robin entered in   2010  in  the one day coast to coast  indivdual event. 

During the year he enjoys  other multi sport  events  to  train for the Coast to Coast . Such as Le Race in 2010.

And he participated in   the  Jet ski endurance race around the South Island,  Peak to Peak  multi sport race in Queenstown,  and  the Wanaka Motatapu bike race  (in 2011. )

PROMOTIONS

New World produced a series of their weekly mailouts with the idea of advertising  the grower in the field for customers to personalise their product with the grower,   this photo was used of the Oakley family.
