COMPANY STRUCTURE

We are supported by a team of  fantastic people who assist in the Management and day to day running of the company.
We recognise the vital part our employees play in the success of the business. A culture of trust, respect and fairness is encouraged throughout every facet of the business, which is reflected in our dealings with business partners and the surrounding rural communities.

 OAKLEYS WEDDING

On 9th of Spetember 2009 at 9am ( 9-9--09) Ho and Carol,  both Oakleys employees,  were married in the grounds at  the Oakleys yard and garden in Southbridge. And this was an important and symbolic day in the chinese calander. Ho is working for Oakleys in the packhouse and Carol is an employee of the labour company contracted to Oakleys. The met a year ago while working together and decided to get married at work as all their friends were there.  The simple but beautiful event was held in the sunny shadows of the Oakley's yard with Dawn Allen as Celebrant. Afterwards they had a BBQ at the Yard and enjoyed the company of many friends and workmates. We wish them both a happy and wonderful life together. Pictured are Carol and Ho with Daw our Office Manager and  J.P. ( new marriage celebrant.)

 OUR GREAT TEAM

Some of the team at the Xmas BBQ/ party

The  great team at Oakleys Premium Fresh Vegetables are the backbone to the Company. We currently have approx.  35 people,  ( which varies due to crop requirements) plus many seasonal harvesting casuals and  other contract labour . We employ local  contractors for transport,  maintanence , spraying, etc.

We are a member of the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce  and have a Human Resources company  who assist with staff meetings and leadership,  contracts, Employment Law and other related issues. We  use two of the largest and major  NZ marketing companies responsible for marketing and selling our products. Being MG Marketing and Turners and Growers. We sell mainly through the Foodstuffs  South Island company.

Due to the growth in our business and the number of staff we now employ, we have implemented the Ace Pays Payroll System, Direct Link Computerised Banking System, and MYOB Accounting system. We  have built  a   new  packhouse and various cool stores and  put  new offices at the yard in Southbridge. We are  built a new  potato cool store   in 2011.

This facility has a staff area built with privacy in mind. It has been landscaped by the great guys that work with us. Built mainly by Shaun and Ray.
We employ  two   wonderful office ladies, Dawn  and Minna , who work  part time .  We have passed more responsibilities down to the Management Team  and now separate the business into different Enterprises.

Because we care for and value our staff we have introduced  'Beers and  BBQ ' once a month, annual 10 pin bowling tournament , Quiz Nights, Fruit for lunches, an Employee of the Month prize, Xmas party and BBQ with entertainment in December , (we had a  bus trip in  the past ).

We previously  introduced a uniform moleskin jacket and shirts, team building exercises,  off site training  with  NZHITO training etc. We have regular team meetings and dinners, and we value the time and effort everyone puts into the business.

Because we care for our local Community we sponsor many different local groups , for example,   Rugby Club, local School's, Playcenter, A n P Show, Guides and Brownies, various Churches, two local race car drivers, etc…see Sponsorship page for details.

And we launched our  premises with a successful party in our new shed for 400 people with a band etc. inviting our staff and family, local farmers, contractors, business people and marketing companies. The Christmas BBQ is becoming bigger every year with a BBQ and party with entertainment for 80 guests  in the packing shed. Another party was held the following year to launch the Parsnip shed with a BBQ and in 2011 the party was held  for the cool store was held, a cool party !!!!

Have you met STAR the cat ...... above with Dawn.

She lives in Dawns office and  sleeps  on her desk, while her  duties involve cat napping and mouse catching she

is excellent at sleeping  with one eye open  at night to scare off burglers. Star had a sister lucky who wasn't so lucky ,

killed on the road when she was a kitten. Smokley joined us in 2011 a stray fluffy grey kitten who now  lives in the office too.
