One of Oakley's core values is connection, and that means connecting with our local community.
Founder Robin Oakley grew up giving away vegetables to his friends and family, so being a business owner allows him to continue this work. Being a family business means we share family values of generosity and empathy.
Ellesmere Food Bank
Oakley’s donates vegetables to the Ellesmere Food Bank who aid over half of the Christchurch food banks.
Annual Selwyn Running Festival
We sponsor the Selwyn Running Festival each year which inspires locals to dig out their runners and build up a sweat - the 5-kilometre run/walk is even named after us!
St John Ambulance & Westpac Rescue Helicopter
FGS Temple VegFest 2018 & 2019
We proudly sponsored this event, providing our Golden Gourmets, Broccoli and Candy Beetroot to be cooked up by a guest chef for all to enjoy. It was a great day spent promoting the goodness that veggies can offer us. The organisers did a stellar job and providing top-notch music, food vendors, cooking demos and art displays.
Greendale Golf Club
We believe that golf is a great way to stay active across all life stages, so we support our local Golf Club. Last year we participated in the annual sponsor's tournament and they named the number 5 hole after us!
Robin and Shirleen Oakley's two daughters participated in the 40 Hour Famine every year during high school. Since then, the Oakley's company has gone on to sponsor two children through World Vision and help them receive nourishing food and education so that they can thrive!
We love our Southbridge community where Oakley’s is based. We sponsored the rebuild of the Southbridge Volunteer Fire Brigade Station and we contributed to the Southbridge Rugby Club. We frequently support Southbridge School and most recent;y sponsored a Sports Cantebury Top Team event to promote physical activity and wellbeing. Did you know that kiwi legend Dan Carter grew up in Southbridge and started his rugby career here?
Young Multisport Talent Camp
The Young Multisport Talent Camp ran in 2014 for 12 junior athletes and four coaches to help fast forward their endurance sport careers. Oakley’s were keen sponsors and loaded the athletes up with healthy veggies!
Canterbury Touch Teams
Zonta Fun Run
We were proud to be a gold sponsor Zonta's Yellow Rose Run. Members of our Christchurch community walked/ran around Hagley Park to help raise funds for parents that need support for Perinatal Anxiety and Depression. It was a huge success, seeing over 200 people get together for this great cause.
Ellesemere A&P Show Muster Chef Competition
The Muster Chef Schools Challenge Competition pits teams of two from six different schools within the Selwyn District against each other. They compete on the culinary stage in a cook-off and created a show themed poster. We love seeing young people get creative with locally grown produce and learn about the goodness fresh veggies can offer them.
Oakley's are committed to enhancing the wellbeing and Hauora of our local community. We’re extremely proud of everyone who took part in this tasty competition. A HUGE congratulations to everyone involved and a special mention to our winners from Southbridge School ????✨
