Growing More Than Vegetables: Supporting Our Local Community on Wheels 🚲🌱

At Oakley’s, we’re passionate about more than just growing premium vegetables — we’re committed to growing a healthier, stronger, and more connected community. That’s why we’re so proud to support initiatives like the Selwyn Sports Trust’s Bike Skills Programme, helping get local tamariki out riding, learning essential life skills, and building confidence on two wheels.

The recent Bike Skills sessions at Broadfield and Prebbleton Schools saw over 150 young riders learning to navigate their bikes safely and confidently — an amazing way to promote fitness, independence, and fun all at once. These kinds of grassroots initiatives are exactly what we love to get behind. Whether it’s about safer roads for our kids, more active daily habits, or the joy of being outdoors, it all adds up to a better future for our whānau and wider Selwyn region.

Just like farming, riding a bike is about balance, determination, and learning through doing. It’s inspiring to see the joy on kids’ faces as they master new skills — and we believe those moments of growth are just as important as the vegetables we harvest every day.

We’re proud to stand alongside the Selwyn Sports Trust as they empower the next generation through movement and education. From paddock to pavement, Oakley’s is here for it.

Here’s to healthy bodies, healthy minds, and healthy communities.
