Taste Selwyn

Taste Selwyn

In May this year, the Selwyn District council of Cantebury ran a campaign called “Taste Selwyn”. It was a celebration of our local producers and eateries where some amazing stories in our communities were uncovered.

Oakley’s Golden Gourmets at Suburban Eatery

The Oakley’s Golden Gourmets were featured on the menu at Suburban Eatery in Leeston where they were used to create a succulent pork belly rolled and served on a bed of red cabbage pickle, potato gratin/rosti  – with a blackcurrant jus and seasonal local vegetables and crispy crackling. Our beetroot featured on the menu at Quickenberry Guesthouse in Windwhistle to whip up a dish of hot smoked salmon, cabbage, baby pepper salsa and beetroot for an entrée or mousse of Manuka honey, hazelnut parfait and honeydew friandise for dessert.

How good does that all sound? The good folks at the Selwyn District Council came to visit us and put together a video highlighting our beetroot production at our beach block in Southbridge. Check it out below:
